Working at Burns

We are proud to offer a friendly and warm culture at our head office in the heart of picturesque Carmarthenshire.

We don’t believe in smoke and mirrors. We take an ethical, transparent approach in all that we do and put the health and wellbeing of pets first. We are pioneers of healthy pet food and were the first UK pet food company to bring chemical-free pet food to market. Our product benefits speak for themselves and because of this we enjoy a loyal customer base of happy and healthy pets.

We care about the local and wider community and have our own in-house charity, The Burns Pet Nutrition Foundation which is staffed by a team of 6. Wherever possible, we will help dogs and cats in need and currently donate food to numerous rescue centres across the UK.

Last but not least, we champion people and have a generous CEO who offers an incredible package of staff benefits so that employees can get the best out of work. These include but are not limited to:

  • Company car after two years’ service.
  • A daily 2-course lunch for £1.
  • 10% annual pension contribution- after 1 year of service.
  • A sickness bonus in January.
  • The opportunity to travel within the UK and internationally to shows and events such as CRUFTS.
  • Free on-site kennels and bring your dog to work scheme.
  • 28 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays.)
  • 1 half day of flexi-time per month (pro rata for part time staff.)

We are proud to be a Living Wage Employer

In January 2014, we became the first company in Carmarthenshire and the first pet food company in the UK to become an accredited Living Wage Employerensuring that all our employees receive a fair wage. We were shortlisted for the Living Wage Champion Awards in 2014 and 2015, and our founder John Burns was chosen as the 2015 Living Wage Champion for the Wales region.
